Makarska Riviera

According to many, the most beautiful part of the Croatian Adriatic Coast is Makarska Riviera . The combination of rocky mountains, green pine forests, white sandy beaches and crystal blue sea, leaves every visitor in exaltation.

Arriving to the Makarska Riviera by boat is an unforgettable experience. You can also arrive by land from the north, descenting from the A1 motorway in Šestanovac, and from southeast passing Baćinska lakes.

The largest town of Makarska Riviera, with more than 13 thousand inhabitants, is Makarska (20 km from Zaostrog), which is called the region from Graca to Brela. Makarska is a city that lives off tourism and for tourism, the city of youth, sport and entertainment. Cultural summer program has different events, concerts, exhibitions and attractive Fishermen\'s nights that attract the largest number of tourists and hosts to the Makarska waterfront like Kalalarga Night and Summer Carnival.

Destinations

The geographical and traffic position of Makarska Riviera, and thus Zaostrog, allows visitors half-day and day trips, visits to many natural, cultural and other sights and places along the Dalmatian coast. If you like trips to the islands we recommend island of Hvar (ferry from Drvenik - 3 km from Zaostrog, the journey takes 30 min), Brač (ferry from Makarska - 20 km from Zaostrog), Korčula (ferry from Drvenik - 3 km from Zaostrog, journey takes 30 min).
There is particularly interesting trip to the mountain Biokovo, where are the marked hiking trails to the slopes and peaks of Biokovo and mountain Rilić.

Along the coast visitors can go to the one day trips to the pearl of the Adriatic, Dubrovnik (120 km from Zaostrog), fertile delta of Neretva ( 20 km), impressive Baćin lakes (10 km) or to Queen of Peace Shrine in Međugorje (70 km) and Mostar (90 km).
